Tennessee Tech University’s track and field teams will continue their outdoor season at the Catamount Classic in Cullowhee, North Carolina, with events starting at 9 a.m. Central Time on Friday, April 24.
The meet comes after strong performances by both the men’s and women’s squads at the recent Tennessee Invite. Several athletes set personal bests and secured top finishes across various events. Freshman Kennedi Winbush led the sprint group with personal records in both the 200-meter (23.85 seconds) and 100-meter (11.72 seconds) races. In the 400 meters, Hannah Little ran a time of 56.49 seconds while Kyla Joy achieved a personal record of 57.02 seconds.
Paris Bowles continued her solid season in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:15.82, while Madison Johnson and Ally Beneke placed third and fourth respectively in the high jump, each clearing marks above one-and-a-half meters. In triple jump competition, Chase Wolfenbarger recorded an individual best leap of 11.34 meters, followed closely by Asharee Davis’s career-best mark of 11.22 meters.
The distance squad also posted strong results as Jane Lokiles finished eighth in the women’s five thousand meter race with a personal best of just under eighteen minutes; Rylee Wells followed closely behind for ninth place with her own lifetime best performance.
On the men’s side, Carter Bradford won his event—the five thousand meter run—with a new personal record time of fourteen minutes thirty-eight seconds.
Looking ahead, Tennessee Tech will return to Nashville for competition at the Music City Challenge scheduled for May 1 and May 2.
