Tennessee Tech men’s golf will finish its regular season at the Bluegrass Invitational, held at the University Club of Kentucky’s Big Blue Course and hosted by the Kentucky Wildcats, according to an announcement on Apr. 12.

The event provides the Golden Eagles with a chance to test themselves against a strong field before heading into conference play. Haden Maxwell has led Tennessee Tech this season, recording the second-lowest score average in the Ohio Valley Conference (70.8) and tying for the third-lowest round in conference play with a 65 during the Grover Page Classic.

“Looking forward to getting to Lexington and competing in Kentucky’s event as we finish up the regular season,” said Head Coach Polk Brown. “Big Blue is a wonderful test and will be a great opportunity for these guys as we head into conference in a couple of weeks. Excited for the challenge ahead.”

The Golden Eagles currently have an average team score of 290.7, ranking fourth among OVC teams behind Little Rock, UT Martin, and SIUE. Their performance at the Grover Page Classic included tying for fourth-lowest round in OVC competition with a team score of 273 on Sept. 15.

Maxwell enters this week’s tournament having achieved six top-five finishes this season along with six top-10s and eight top-20s over his 27 rounds played, averaging one-under par per round.

The lineup for Tennessee Tech includes Haden Maxwell, Nick Etherton, Bryson White, Cooper Gettler, and Matthew Shull. Seventeen teams are set to compete across two days: Belmont, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Washington, Evansville, Kentucky (host), Marquette, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Purdue-Fort Wayne, SIUE (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville), Tennessee Tech itself, UT Martin (University of Tennessee at Martin), Valparaiso and West Georgia.

The tournament schedule consists of 54 holes—36 holes played continuously on Monday starting at 9 a.m., followed by an additional 18 holes Tuesday also beginning at 9 a.m., both via shotgun start format.
