Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles women’s beach volleyball team will conclude its regular season with a series of matches against Ohio Valley Conference opponents at Morehead State, according to an April 16 announcement.
The event marks the last opportunity for the Golden Eagles to compete against conference teams before heading into next week’s OVC Beach Volleyball Championship in Martin, Tennessee. The outcome of these matches could impact seeding and momentum going into the postseason tournament.
Tech is scheduled to play Lindenwood and UT Martin on Friday at 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively, followed by matches against Eastern Illinois and Chattanooga on Saturday at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Lindenwood enters the weekend with a strong record of 15-5 overall and stands just behind league leader Chattanooga in conference play. The Lions previously defeated Tech, Morehead State, and UT Martin during the earlier OVC weekend held in Chattanooga.
UT Martin holds a season record of 10-7 and has seen mixed results recently, including one win out of four matches at last week’s Scenic City Showdown in Chattanooga. Eastern Illinois has struggled this year with a record of 4-10 but managed to secure victories over both Southwest Baptist and Tennessee Tech during recent competitions.
For Tennessee Tech (4-23), last week saw them return to winning form with a narrow victory over Southwest Baptist at the Austin Peay Invitational. The pairing of Vivian RoBards and MK Roberts leads the team with an individual record of eight wins this season.
All six teams from the Ohio Valley Conference will participate in next week’s championship tournament, where each squad will look to improve upon their performances from this final regular-season test.
