The Tennessee Tech baseball team will close out its regular season with a three-game home series against Morehead State, beginning Thursday, May 13. The games are scheduled for Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m., with the Senior Day finale on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The upcoming series holds significant importance for the Golden Eagles as they attempt to secure a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) tournament. Tech is currently two games behind Southern Indiana and Western Illinois in conference standings and must surpass both teams to qualify for postseason play. To achieve this, the Golden Eagles need to sweep Morehead State while hoping that both Southern Indiana and Western Illinois are swept in their respective series.

Admission to all three games is free, and each contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Dylan Vazzano providing commentary. The OVC Baseball Championships are set to return next week at Mtn Dew Park in Marion, Illinois.

Saturday’s game will also serve as Senior Day, honoring twelve senior players: Manny Garza, Eddie Garza, Reece McDuffie, Connor Crowson, Jorsixt Jimenez, Lawson Stricklin, Jamie Robertson, Drew Mattox, Nash Crowell, Garrett Holpuch, Jaxson Pease and Cooper Casteel.

Morehead State enters the weekend with a record of 28-23 overall and has already clinched a spot in the conference tournament. The team has been strong offensively this season with a .310 batting average and leads several categories within the conference. Meanwhile, Tennessee Tech is hitting .274 as a team and is led by Jorsixt Jimenez’s .405 average.

As both teams prepare for their final regular-season matchups of the year at Averitt Express Baseball Complex in Cookeville, Tennessee Tech faces challenging odds but remains focused on postseason aspirations.
