Tennessee Tech baseball will play against Austin Peay for the second consecutive Tuesday, this time traveling to Clarksville for a matchup scheduled at 6 p.m. CT on April 14. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The upcoming contest follows Tennessee Tech’s recent win over Austin Peay, where they secured a 7-5 victory at home. The Golden Eagles are coming off an 18-16 win against UT Martin, which helped them close out their latest conference series with momentum.
In their last outing, Tennessee Tech recorded 18 runs on as many hits and managed to hold off a late surge from UT Martin. Landon Smelser led the team offensively with a perfect performance at the plate, going four-for-five with four runs scored and a home run. Jorsixt Jimenez contributed two home runs and four RBI during the game.
A pivotal moment came in the fourth inning when Tennessee Tech rallied for eight runs. Nash Crowell hit a bases-clearing double as part of his six-RBI day, while Eddie Garza capped the inning with a three-run homer that extended their lead.
Jimenez was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week after batting .500 over four games last week and hitting three home runs along with eight RBI. He currently leads the conference in several categories including slugging percentage (.815), home runs (14), RBI (48), OPS (1.249), and is second in triples (4). Manny Garza was added to the Buster Posey Midseason Award Watch List recognizing top catchers nationally, while Owen Lee joined the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch List for shortstops.
Looking ahead, Tennessee Tech is set to host SEMO for a three-game series beginning Friday at Bush Stadium at Averitt Express Baseball Complex.
