Sophomore Brayden Palmer is the choice for Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week the league office announced Wednesday. It's little wonder after his run in the Southern Scuffle, presented by Compound Sportswear.
Palmer finished second at 133 with a 4-1 week overall. He nearly won in every manner possible recording a fall, major decision and decision.

"Brayden wrestled really well, pretty consistent with how he wrestles every match," Coach Kyle Ruschell began. "I think we need to do a couple little things to get him to the next level. The way he wrestled in the championship match against the No. 2 guy in the country, just a couple of little positions, and he's in the match."
The performance moved Palmer 11 spots up the Intermat rankings to No. 16. He owns wins over No. 17 Cullen Schriever (Iowa), No. 20 Aaron Nagao (Minnesota) and No. 23 Ramazan Attasauov (Iowa State) leading the Mocs in wins with 12 (12-3). His WOTW honor is the second by a Moc in 2022-23 joining Rocky Jordan (Dec. 14).
