The Tennessee Tech softball team will see an additional arm in the infield in the Spring campaign as the Golden Eagles added a Division I transfers with shortstop Meaghan Houk.
Houk, who spent her freshman season with Colgate out of the Patriot League, played in 44 games last season with 33 starts. She collected a .211 batting average with 19 hits as she tallied five doubles, three triples, two home runs with seven RBI and 12 runs scored. Defensively, she finished the season with a .907 fielding percentage.
She finished 2022 with three multi-hit games with a season-best five-game hitting streak. Her top performances included a 2-for-3 outing at Holy Cross, while she also had two doubles and a run scored against Lafayette.
Houk also earned scholar-athlete academic honors from both the Patriot League and Easton/NFCA.
A native of Ravena, N.Y., Houk was a two-sport athlete at Ravena Coeymans Selkirk HS, playing middle hitter in volleyball and shortstop in softball. She earned first-team Colonial Council in 2018 and second-team in 2019 and 2021, while she was also a three-time team captain and was team MVP following the 2021 season. She helped lead the squad to the first round of sectional in 2018.
Houk also competed on the club level for the Rhode Island Thunder.
