Tennessee Tech University Men's Golf Team Maintains Position After Round Two of Golfweek Fall Challenge

Day two of the Golfweek Program Challenge saw the Tennessee Tech men's golf team maintain its top-10 position, as the Golden Eagles completed its second trip around True Blue Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Monday afternoon.

The purple and gold brought its 36-hole total to 577, tying for eighth among the 13 teams in competition with a round of 288, one better than its day-one total. Jacksonville State seized control of the leaderboard with a 275 on the day, moving into first at 18-under with a 558. Coastal Carolina's Trey Crenshaw maintained his place atop the individual rankings, finishing with a 68 to sit at 11-under with a 133.

Tech sophomore Jackson Skeen took over the top spot for the Golden Eagles among the 76 participants, rolling off a 4-under 68 to move into a tie for 10th overall at 139. Posting five birdies and 12 pars, he ranked second overall in the field in par-4 scoring with a mark of 4-under.

Chance Taylor followed up his 67 on Monday with a 74 in the second round, totaling 141 to sit 3-under and in a tie for 15th among the leaders. The senior delivered a pair of birdies with 12 more pars to the mix. Junior Mark McDearman ended day two with a 1-over 73, totaling 145 overall. Tied for 34th, the veteran produced a pair of birdies and an eagle.

Competing as an individual, Alexander Bassel stayed steady after a first-round 75, securing a 76 for a 151. Behind three birdies, he ranked tied for 61st with one round to play. Rookie Haden Maxwell broke out for a huge round, carding a 1-over 73 behind 14 pars and two birdies. His 152 tied him for 64th.

Rounding out the Golden Eagles was junior Sean Anderson, finishing the day with a 161 overall after a round of 81.

The final round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge will begin at 6:45 a.m. CT for the purple and gold as part of a partial shotgun start Tuesday morning.
