Congratulations to new captain, lieutenant

Two veteran supervisors were promoted and a third supervisor was transferred by Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh Tuesday.

Lt. Todd Sparks was promoted captain over the Criminal Investigations Division.

Lt. Chuck Barnes made a lateral transfer from narcotics investigations to lieutenant of general investigations where he will fill Sparks’ position.

Sgt. Tony Hall was promoted to lieutenant to fill Barnes’ position.

“They are an established team of detectives who work together well,” Fitzhugh said. “With their expertise, they will continue to advance the Criminal Investigations Division.”

The new promotions will be effective Monday.

Sparks joined the Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy in 1995. He was promoted as a detective three years later. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2010. He will serve as captain overseeing general investigations and narcotics.

Barnes started as a deputy in detention in 1993 before being promoted to patrol deputy, corporal and sergeant. He has served as both a general investigations and narcotics detective, school resource officer and a judicial services sergeant. He served as lieutenant in both the warrants and narcotics divisions.

Hall became a patrol deputy in 2004 and was promoted to corporal two years later. He was promoted as a detective and sergeant assigned to narcotics investigations.
