Cost of college went up for all students at the Fortis Institute-Cookeville

Tuition and fees rose 3 percent for 2018-19 at the Fortis Institute-Cookeville, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Tennessee students paid $15,201 to attend the two-year private for-profit institution this year – $449 more than the $14,752 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 16 students received grants or scholarships totaling $88,327 and 16 students took out student loans totaling more than $132,186.

Including all undergraduates (214), 144 students used grants or scholarships totaling $783,976, and 123 students took out $784,151 in federal student loans.
