Rhodes leads Tennessee Tech after first day at Mimosa Invitational

Tennessee Tech completed the first 36 holes of The Mimosa Invitational on March 30 at Mimosa Hills Golf & Country Club in Morganton, North Carolina. The team recorded rounds of 310 and 309, resulting in a total score of 619 (+43) and placing fifth overall heading into the final round.

The event is important for Tennessee Tech as it offers an opportunity to compete against several regional teams and assess individual performances ahead of future tournaments. Kaydi Rhodes led the Golden Eagles with a two-round total of 153 (+9), tying for 13th place individually. Rhodes opened with a round of 73 (+1) before posting an 80 (+8) in her second round.

Kailey Lane followed closely with a combined score of 156 (+12), tying for 22nd after rounds of 79 and 77. Sydney Branson also contributed significantly, finishing at a total of 157 (+13) to tie for 24th place; she improved her performance in the second round by carding a score of 74 following an opening round of 83.

Other Tennessee Tech participants included Lexus Julian and Chloe Griffith, both tied for 29th at scores of +15 (159). Lydia Baker competed as an individual and finished tied for 45th with a score of +19 (163).

In team standings through two rounds, Charlotte led with a total score of +25 (601), followed by Longwood, Appalachian State, UNCG, and Tennessee Tech rounding out the top five. The tournament continues Tuesday morning as the Golden Eagles begin their final round at The Mimosa Invitational.
