Morehead State edged the Tennessee Tech baseball team, 4-3, in a close contest on May 15 at Quillen Field and Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex. The game marked the last series between the two teams as members of the Ohio Valley Conference, with Tennessee Tech set to leave for the Southern Conference after the 2026 season.

The matchup was defined by timely hitting, as all seven runs were scored with two outs. Tennessee Tech took an early lead when Jackson Rooker walked and later scored on Nash Crowell’s single. Morehead State responded in the second inning with a double and a two-run home run to take a 2-1 lead. They extended their advantage in the third inning with additional two-out hits.

Tennessee Tech head coach Matt Bragga visited pitcher Jaxson Pease during a difficult stretch, after which Pease settled down and delivered four scoreless innings. Bragga allowed Pease to start the eighth inning before pulling him from his final collegiate game, giving him an opportunity to receive recognition from teammates and fans. Pease finished his outing with seven innings pitched, five strikeouts, and four runs allowed.

Tennessee Tech attempted a comeback in the fourth inning when Manny Garza drew a walk and Connor Crowson hit a two-run home run to bring them within one run of Morehead State. Both teams relied on strong pitching for the remainder of the game. In one late-inning threat for Tennessee Tech, Crowson tripled but was left stranded after Morehead State secured a key strikeout.

Crowell and Crowson each had two hits for Tennessee Tech while Rooker contributed with walks and his 19th stolen base of the season. Cooper Casteel and Drew Kirby provided scoreless relief appearances out of the bullpen.

Tennessee Tech will play its final Ohio Valley Conference game Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., following Senior Day ceremonies honoring several senior players.
