Congressman John Rose, U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 6th congressional district, has used his social media platform to comment on ongoing political and humanitarian issues in early November 2025.

On November 3, 2025, Rose highlighted the impact of government staffing shortages on air travel. He wrote, “WATCH: 53% of all flight delays are now caused by staffing shortages, creating chaos for travelers like Rose at @Fly_Nashville. All she wanted was to be home with her family this weekend, but her flight—along with 300 others—was grounded because of the Democrat Shutdown. Enough”.

The following day, November 4, he addressed the government shutdown during an appearance on CNN. In a tweet posted that morning, Rose stated, “Setting the record straight on CNN: Democrats have voted 14 TIMES to keep the government closed. 14 times to block pay for our troops. 14 times to block pay for our air traffic controllers and TSA workers. 14 times to block SNAP funding for Americans, including the 70,000+ in”.

Later that afternoon, Rose turned attention to international religious freedom concerns. On November 4 he tweeted, “Nigeria is the #1 country in the world persecuting Christians. Yet, the world is silent. I wrote about this in @thehill last year — and the issue is more urgent than ever. America must stand firmly for religious freedom, at home and abroad.”

Government shutdowns in the United States have historically led to disruptions in federal services such as air travel due to furloughs or reduced hours among essential staff like air traffic controllers and Transportation Security Administration workers. During these periods, military personnel often continue working without pay until funding is restored; programs like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) may also face temporary funding interruptions.

Nigeria has been cited by multiple human rights organizations as a country where Christian communities face significant persecution from non-state actors and militant groups. International advocacy groups frequently call attention to violence against religious minorities in Nigeria and urge greater action from foreign governments.
