Tennessee Tech senior Addison Abell was named Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week on March 23, marking the second consecutive week a Golden Eagles player has received this honor.
The recognition is determined through nominations and votes by the conference’s softball media relations contacts. This continued acknowledgment highlights Abell’s consistent performance in recent games.
Abell made three appearances during the week, recording a 0.51 earned run average and a 0.88 WHIP with notable outings against Austin Peay and Lindenwood. In one game against Lindenwood, she held a no-hitter into the seventh inning before it was broken up by Anna Sanders’ leadoff single, leading to a complete-game shutout in Tennessee Tech’s 5-0 win. She also combined with Emily York for another shutout in an 8-0 victory, pitching 3⅔ innings without allowing any hits or runs.
Last week, Ashley Capelouto received OVC Player of the Week honors while Emily York shared Pitcher of the Week recognition. The latest award marks Abell’s second since joining Tennessee Tech.
Looking ahead, Tennessee Tech will play at No. 1 Tennessee on Tuesday to start a stretch of seven straight road games that includes conference series at Morehead State and Western Illinois.
